Volunteers needed to serve on City of Salinas Commissions, Boards and Committees
The City of Salinas is seeking volunteers interested in serving on City Commissions, Boards, and Committees to advise the City Council on issues relating to specific areas of responsibility.
The following Commissions, Boards, Committees currently have vacancies:
Animal Services Advisory Committee
The Animal Shelter Committee assists in developing public information regarding companion animals, updating city animal ordinances, and enhancing community outreach and education.
Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals consists of five standing members selected from the City at-large who are residents of Salinas or who own and operate a business located within Salinas at the time of appointment and continuously during the term of office. The members must be qualified by experience and training and specifically knowledgeable in the California Building Standards Code and applicable local ordinances to hear appeals of matters pertaining to building standards.
Historic Resources Board
The Historic Resources Board assist with identifying, protecting, preserving, and restoring Salinas' historic sites and cultural heritage assets and transform them into future attractions for visitors and tourists.
Public Art Commission
The Public Art Commission is to identify and actively encourage the development and sustainability of the arts in the City by serving as the City's primary resource in matters of art, culture, public art, and cultural tourism. Members of the commission must be practicing art professionals as defined in the City's Public Art Ordinance.
Monterey County Commission on Disabilities (City Appointee)
The Commission on Disabilities reviews and advised the Monterey County Board of Supervisors on matters relating to equal access to employment, public services, communications, and public accommodations for people with disabilities.
